Our products
As all the wool we use for our products is British, it is frequently possible for us to identify the flocks which provided the fleeces for particular items.
Most of our wool comes from the UK, but we have also made products from, or including, Falkland Islands Corriedale. Identification by farm is normal for the organic wool passing through the mill.
There are over 60 different breeds of sheep thriving in the UK and the qualities and characteristics of the fleece they produce vary enormously. Some specialist breeds produce superb wool that lends itself to certain products, notably Manx Loaghtan and Gotland.
To help you choose we can send samples, so please telephone and ask us. If you want to know more, follow this link to the Meet the animals pages.
We sometimes purchase all the fleece available to us. For example, there are less than 2,000 Gotlands in the country. This is why some of our products are limited editions and carry numbers and years in the same way as an artist's reproductions.
When a certain product is no longer available, it isn't because we didn't make enough, but because there is no more wool available until those particular sheep are next due for a haircut!
We can take orders for specialist products and will guarantee a price, but we may ask for a small deposit. If you change your mind or a product sells out, your deposit will be returned.
Since we relocated to Cornwall in 2005, we have been experimenting with different blends of fibres many of which you cannot get anywhere else. We have so far processed wool from over 50 different breeds of sheep, sometimes blending them with other breeds or alpaca, mohair or silk. We always use Tussah silk which means that the silkworms are not killed.
