Level of difficulty: Two Ewes: This is an easy, one-ball kit, great to practice cable knitting and not difficult.

A cable headband is knitted first, then the rest of the hat is knitted by picking up stitches along one side of the band.

You can also use just the band as a head- or ear- warmer and leave out the rest! (Or leave it till later?)
Although we have given sizes, for a child, young person and adult, you can easily make this to measure! The cable band is not very stretchy, so make it only about 2.5cm (1”) below the actual head size, so the beanie will stay on without being too tight.

Materials in your kit:
50g Blacker Yarns Double Knitting yarn
4.5mm needles; cable needle
You will also need a darning needle for making up and possibly a few pins

We have chosen soft Shetland yarn in white, fawn or dark brown to keep you warm.
